Shani Winterstein
Shani has over 20 years of experience in the international development sector focused heavily on issues of community engagement, public participation and governance. Shani works across the GHAI portfolio and in tobacco control in Africa in collaboration with our local partners to assess their needs and strengths, develop advocacy capacity strengthening plans, trainings, and skills enhancement activities, conceptualize strategic advocacy campaign plans, and monitor progress. Before GHAI, Shani was the Advocacy Strategy and Capacity Director at Save the Children International, a global NGO with 60 country offices and 30 members globally, where she led the development and implementation of the advocacy strategies, capacity building initiatives and annual monitoring & evaluation plans in collaboration with country teams, regional offices and donors. In her roles at Save the Children International, Save the Children US and Save the Children Sweden, Shani developed deep experience in public health advocacy, campaigning and communications across a range of thematic areas and issues. Her prior experience includes roles at UNICEF, the Southern African Regional Poverty Network and at Lawyers for Human Rights in Pretoria, South Africa.
