Join us over the next week as we release a new report about corporate tactics to influence healthy food policies during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Report launch: November 17

On November 17, the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) will release the report “Between Two Pandemics: How Big Food Undermined Public Health in the Era of COVID-19.” The report gathers more than 280 examples, from 18 countries, of tactics by Big Food to promote their unhealthy products throughout the COVID-19 crisis.

Webinar: November 17

On November 17th at 10:00am EST, GHAI will discuss the report’s findings in a one-hour webinar. Holly Wong, vice president, will be joined by Alison Friedman from the International Corporate Accountability Roundtable, Camila Maranha from ACT Promoção da Saúde, Lucy Martinez Sullivan from Feed the Truth, and Martha Yaneth, a public policy and industry researcher in Colombia.

Along with the survey of industry tactics, speakers will explore solutions undertaken by civil society organizations to tackle undue influence from corporate actors who are undermining public health. They will also share recommendations for governments to tackle diet-related diseases through policies based on independent evidence.

Simultaneous Spanish translation will be available. Please register here.

Tweet chat: November 18

On Wednesday, November 18th, GHAI will host a Twitter chat to share the new report and facilitate a global discussion on how industry’s actions to influence healthy food policies during COVID-19 impact public health and policy solutions that can help mitigate the damage. Click here for more information in advance, or join on November 18 with the hashtags #GHAIchat and #HealthyFoodPolicies.
