GHAI is supporting implementing partners to prevent child drowning in Vietnam, and we’re in the middle of a critical window to save lives. When schools let out, children face a higher risk of drowning death, so in May we supported a social awareness campaign to highlight the danger and proven interventions that save lives.
In Thanh Hoa province, GHAI supported the local government and school administrators to organize a children’s art competition. Students aged 13-14 were asked to use art to express what a world without drowning deaths would look like, and awards were given to 20 exceptional entries. An exhibit of the winners and other entries was displayed at a major event, the kick-off of the National Action Month for Children, where senior officials reiterated the commitment of the government of Vietnam to preventing childhood drowning.
