Madeline is the Associate Director of Gender Advocacy, Health Systems Strengthening (HSS). She primarily supports the Data for Health team but also works across the HSS cluster on all gender-related projects. Madeline is a women’s rights, gender justice, and international law specialist. She formerly served on the senior leadership team at the coalitional campaign for a treaty on violence against women, directing research, writing, and communications. Madeline began her legal career at global law firm King & Wood Mallesons, where she worked primarily in the litigation group. She then pursued a Master of Laws degree at Columbia, graduating as a James Kent Scholar (with highest academic distinction). Madeline subsequently served as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at the Columbia Law Center for Intersectionality and Social Policy Studies and the African American Policy Forum. In this capacity she worked on the #SayHerName campaign. As an expert consultant, Madeline has collaborated with organizations including GIZ, Diversity Council Australia, UN Women and TIME’S UP.
