Mariana de Araujo Ferraz (LL.B, MsC, PhD) is the Associate Director, Advocacy for the Food Policy program. She manages the program in Brazil and provides strategic support to Advocacy Fund Latin America countries. Prior to this, she was the Brazil in-country coordinator where she helped local partners plan and develop advocacy strategies to create healthy food environments. Mariana is a lawyer with a Master’s degree in Human Rights and a PhD in Constitutional Law at University of São Paulo (USP) with research on obesity prevention regulations. She formerly worked at Brazilian consumer defense organizations in advocacy, research and project management. Mariana is the author of the book “Human Right to Food and Sustainability in the Food System,” published in 2017 in Brazil.
