Phonethipsavanh Nouanthong, Ph.D., is the in-country coordinator for the Immunization Program in Laos. She has worked in Southeast Asia for the past 20 years. She has extensive experience in medical laboratories, drug development, and vaccination. Her research includes HIV/AIDS, vaccine-preventable and zoonotic diseases, new viral variants, and community health. She has received awards from the Thai Government, AIDS Fogarty, AUN Scholar, ISPD Young Investigator Award, Fulbright-Hubert H. Humphrey, and DFAT Fellowship. Dr. Nouanthong has made significant contributions to preventive medicine and has led vaccination initiatives for HPV and COVID-19 in Laos. She provides technical support and strategic guidance to national immunization programs and consultancy to INGOs. She has published several studies on vaccine-preventable diseases in Laos and actively supports educational and national research initiatives, as well as international networks focused on global health security and public health.
